Tamar Care Services Southwest Ltd
Dementia & Alzheimer's Care at Home
All of us at Tamar Care Services believe in quality care for everyone. We support the national and local work of the Alzheimer's society in creating communities that are knowledgeable and supportive of our friends and neighbour's that have dementia. We are 'Dementia Friends' and Kerry is also a 'Dementia Champion' - helping to educate and involve others in understanding dementia and how we can support people to lead fulfilling lives - this is something that we care very much about on both a personal and professional level. There is a wealth of information available at www.alzheimers.org.uk or talk to us today.
It is thought that by 2015, 850,000 people in the UK will have been diagnosed with dementia. This number will rise to over 1 million by 2021.
Alzheimers disease is the most common form of dementia, affecting 62% of people diagnosed. There are many more forms of it - such as vascular & Lewy Bodys.
Symptoms include memory loss, confusion, problems with speech and understanding.
How we can help:
Encouraging and supporting with memory activities - reading, looking at photographs, reminiscing, playing favourite games
Providing respite breaks for the main carer - from a few hours per week to longer holiday breaks.
Assisting to maintain personal and domestic hygiene.
Ensuring a good nutritional intake - planning & providing meals, helping with shopping, encouraging a healthy diet.
Reminders about medication - assisting to fill prescriptions, accompanying to medical appointments.
Assisting with social outings and maintaining interests and hobbies - socialising, meeting others, maintaining friendships, learning new hobbies, trips out to favourite places.
Safety & security checks in the home - making sure the home is secure for the night, assisting with the bedtime routine and/or morning routine.
Alhough people do not 'get better' with dementia - there are ways to make life happier and more fulfilling. Each person is unique in their own experiences of dementia and our care and support packages are designed to reflect this.
All of our care staff have the knowledge and experience to support people to remain as independent as possible, for as long as possible. We agree that there is 'no place like home' and will support people to remain in their own homes.
Talk to us about your needs - we have many years experience, both in a personal and professional capacity and have assisted many people to lead more fulfilling lives.
